The more we’ve been given, the more will be expected of us. Each of us has to ask ourselves this question: “Is God happy with what we are returning to him?” In today’s Gospel, the master is not very pleased with his servant who did nothing with his money, but praises and rewards those servants who use their gifts to increase the master’s wealth. So it will be for us. It’s not breaking news that we are supposed to use our earthly blessings to increase God’s honor and glory. We call this effort of ours “tithing,“ giving a “tenth” of our resources to God and His Church. As I present our financial statement today, prayerfully consider your tithing efforts and make adjustments as necessary.
