From Fr. Tom,

It’s been said the only two things that are certain in this world are death and taxes. True enough. November is usually the month our personal property and real estate tax bills are sent out and this year at the end of November for us Catholics we hear in the readings about death and the final judgement at the end of the world! Death and taxes…The difference is we know when our taxes are due and can pretty well guess how much we’ll owe. But we have no way of knowing about our death, when, where, or how. We can, however, prepare for both! We can save up money all year to pay our taxes AND we can prepare our souls for inevitable death by depositing spiritual tender through prayer and worship, practicing the corporal works of mercy, being generous, and considering others. How’s your checking/soul account?
