From Fr. Tom,
Don’t you just love storms!? I sure do. When I was little I used to sit in front of our patio door when it was storming and watch the lightening, feel the thunder and listen to the rain hitting the glass. When I’m at my cabin, the neatest thing is to sit out on the screened in porch and listen to the rain on the metal roof. Sometimes it is deafening! Being in a BOAT during a storm is a different story…and that’s where we find Peter and some other disciples in today’s Gospel account. Jesus arrives, walking on the water, and calms the wind and waves. How can anyone NOT believe Jesus is the Son of God? How can anyone NOT listen to what He has to say? How can anyone NOT try to please Him with a decent life? How can anyone NOT want to have Him on their side? Next time we have a storm, think about that and then ask for an increase of faith while you’re at it!

AND…I will be gone from Sunday afternoon this week until about 12 noon on Wednesday, August 12th. On the evening of August 12th, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for eight of our children! Please take time to pray for our “confirmandi” as they receive the Holy Spirit and try their best to live out the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. Pray for them also as they will be getting ready for the high-school experience.

God bless all of you!
