I remember a goofy TV commercial decades ago with the salesman awkwardly riding on roller skates around his store selling appliances shouting “DON’T BE CONFUSED!” His name was Steve Mizerany. Anybody else remember that? The same can be said for Jesus in today’s gospel trying to get His point across about who is going to gain entrance into heaven and who is not; but no roller skates, no gimmicks, just plain truth with no confusion. The “Good News” as we sometimes call the Gospel may not be very good news for some, however. This is a very good time to take inventory of our worship practices, our prayer, our generosity, our faith, our spiritual lives. Minimalism in faith is not a good idea.
