This weekend we celebrate Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus’ disciples as tongues of fire giving them the strength and ability to start their mis sion to spread the word of God. As a priest I cannot count the number of times this same Spirit has helped me and even saved me when talking with people, giving homilies, visiting hospitals, dealing with personal issues, teaching, etc…I mean it! I would be totally sunk without the Holy Spirit. Sometimes I like to tell stories about how exactly the Spirit came through when I was in a tough spot and relive the whole thing. The theme the last two weeks is that the Holy Spirit is ours today to help us the same way it helped the early disciples. The Spirit also helps us when we don’t even know it. That’s the most amazing thing to me! Keep the faith, folks, and never, never, never, never, underestimated the power of the Holy Spirit in your lives. God bless you.
