The Gospel readings for the next few Sundays are excerpts from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. It is perhaps the most compact collection of moral teachings on Christian behavior. Some people call it a sacred “pep talk” from Christ Himself. It is so much more, though, because Jesus calls for a transformation of the person from the inside out making the Christian way of life attractive to anyone who sees it. We are all capable of living a holy life, inspiring others along the way. This is what God wants from us.
