From Fr. Tom,

Some months ago, I wrote a bulletin message about justice and how it is best to leave the administering of justice to the pro, namely God. After all, he is the only one who knows the whole story about everyone and everything. The human administration of justice can more closely be termed as revenge. Our working for justice can only go so far, whereas, God’s justice is complete and totally accurate. Holding grudges is also part of vengeance. When we hold a grudge, we keep negative thoughts and feelings toward another hoping that our efforts harm them in some way, supposedly making us feel better. But that takes a lot of work on our part, and it really doesn’t work anyway. We are supposed to be better than all this because of what and whom we believe in. We are called to be better than the “sinners’ described by Jesus in the Gospel. Lives with a merciful and loving base will be full of peace with no need for revenge or judgement.

God bless you.
