From Fr. Tom,
Our readings for mass this week are much harder to take than last week, for sure. Last week we were the light of the world, and this week we hear stern warnings and commands that challenge us to be better people. This is all part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, and it is to be taken seriously if we want salvation. These passages are not only hard for parishioners to hear, they are also difficult for the homilist because he knows he is not perfect and needs to take these words to heart himself. We are a couple weeks away from our Lenten season. Perhaps it would help all of us to get an early start with repentance, reconciliation, and purification of our souls.
God bless St. Joseph Parish.
