Since early October, St. Joseph’s has been blessed to have six people studying the Catholic Faith in answer to Jesus’ call to become members of the Church. Two are what the Church, from its earliest days, have called CATECHUMENS – those who have not been baptized as Christians. They will receive all three Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. The remaining four are known as CANDIDATES – those who have been baptized as Christians at some point in the past. They will be welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Over the past five months, I have been privileged to walk with our six candidates and catechumens each week, and I am happy to report that they all exhibit a deep commitment to Jesus and a desire to join our Catholic faith and become a part of our parish family. You will see our candidates and catechumens at various Masses during the Sundays of Lent. Please take the time to introduce yourselves to them and assure them of your prayers during their final days of preparation.
I have arranged to have pictures and short biographies of our candidates and catechumens in this week’s bulletin. St. Joseph’s has been greatly blessed by their commitment and sacrifice, please make them welcome!
Have a blessed week!
